As I told sil in her journal, I was up early, but I think I got a reasonable amount of sleep, especially considering I slept sandwiched between another brutal Wednesday 12 hour work day and a Thursday when I have to drive myself alone to a renal appointment at a university medical center an hour and a half away come noon.

Like I've said here, there's always a chance I'll be ordered dialysis again, and I already refused it once. I got the kidney damage from a psychiatrist who prescribed too much Seroquel for my PTSD nightmares, so it seems really unfair now.

You are too close to realizing your dream of retiring to Mexico. My sincerest wishes and high hopes for good news. You deserve that chance to bask in the warmth and sun of Mexico and relax and restore your lifes blood and batteries, Much love.....

Oh, wow, y'all! Are your prayers ever the MOST effective anywhere! My renal doc told me that my blood work showed that my kidney damage did advance in the last 6 months just a tiny little bit, but only a tiny bit! NO DIALYSIS ORDER FOR ME!! Yay, which is really lucky, because I have a legal document on file with that hospital politely asserting my right as a patient not to do dialysis, whatever the diagnosis and whatever the consequences, including fatal ones.


That's why I lost 110 lbs, why I walk for exercise every day, and why I follow my nutritionist's rules about what to drink or eat to protect the 60% kidney function I have left. It's also why I live without any PTSD meds but for Prazosin, which is processed by the liver rather than the kidneys. Strength is so right about what this kidney doc visit means as to my Mexico plans, too. Thank you for the power of your prayers and good wishes for me!!!

Good news.....I can't help but believe that finishing out the semester at school and boogieing down to Mexico will do wonders for your health and overall well being. I know you are counting down the days.....maybe even the hours. Prayers will continue for things to go well. I thinks there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm really surprised they would order dialysis when you have 60% function. I waited until I was down to 15% before I started dialysis. Largely because I was terrified, but it truly saved my life. Im really happy you got good news though!

I know, JudicatorPrime, the fact that the kidney doctor who ordered it owned the dialysis unit made me seek a second opinion right away. Thankfully, these second kidney docs treat me with integrity.

I know, y'all, I think Mexico will do me good, even in terms of finding another good kidney doc down there because I'll be living in a bigger, more modern city than the city in Appalachia where I live now. So glad it sounds like I've got the health for making the trip. I got an appointment to get my COVID-19 vaccine next week, so that hurdle to flying to Mexico is out of the way, too.
