My 2nd loved one w virus surviving

I've been grieving since my close friend Deb died during this coronavirus pandemic March 13.  She was only 2 years older than me (I'm 61) and went really quickly, so it was a shock to lose her.  I posted here about losing her and got lots of great support from everybody.



Then soon after that, my 2nd loved one tested positive for COVID-19.  She's an elderly lady who's been like a mother to me for the past 10 years since I've been estranged from my abusive family of origin.  She's 93, so she's in the high risk coronavirus category.  I posted about my fear of losing her, too, and once again I got a lot of great support from everybody.



So since you all were so good to me in my grief, I just wanted to show my gratitude, too, that my 2nd loved one with the coronavirus is still with us.  At the end of every day around 9pm I get the latest update on her condition.  She's in a nursing home where she's one of 71 people who have COVID-19, so she's in the "hot spot" for coronavirus in my area.  Every other day or so another one of those with coronavirus dies there, but for 2 weeks now when I get the phone call I find out that today it wasn't her, and I'm grateful.  She isn't even running a fever!



She's in a windowless ICU unit, so those of us who care about her can't go to her window and wave to her like was possible before . But she can talk on the phone every day and let us know she's made it through another day.  It's always really good news, so I thought I'd share it.

So happy shes doing well i been keeping her in my prayers! This is so wonderful to hear! I am glad you have her in your life :) My moms friend is in her 80s (moms 67) and in a nursing home/assisted living place. She has dementia from having 2 strokes and survived a heart attack before those. She is very hard to talk to because she goes to thinking shes a kid to adult to a mom of babies etc. Its hard on me but i was going with mom for almost 2 years now to see her, we have not been able to see her in about 8 months because mom had c diff and almost died she was internally bleeding in november, in december mom almost died again her left lung had one spot of pneumina nad her right 3 one in each part of the lung and she had the flu and a very very severe bladder infection, got her to the ER just in time, she could not even hold her head up and was incoherent. They gave her the iv for drug overdoses she was that bad to make SURE she had not oded i had told them i know she did not but they had to be sure. Plus in 2019 mom had stomach surgery in march and 3 days later fell and broke in one leg her tibula fibula and foot so was in a wheel chair. So Rose has not seen much of us, My mom called her son to find out more on how she was doing since its not possible to visit right now no visitors allowed and he set up for mom to talk to her on the phone. She didnt even realize we havnet been there mom said shes getting even more confused :( It is so sad to see! All 3 of her sons and her grand kids do visit her outside her window so thats nice! It is so hard on older people right now in nursing homes, some like Rose do not understand whats going on

Thanks, everybody. In a couple of hours I'll get my nightly phone call as to how she's done today. More and more I'm starting to think positively waiting for that call, that it'll be one more day of good news. I'm grateful for your letting me say so here, whatever happens in the end.

Thanks, rose, so sorry you lost someone to this virus, too. I'm just glad I got another good call last night again. It's a great thing to be able to report.

Hey, I think she's going to make it through this thing. They're talking about moving her from the ICU back to her old room on the ground level where she's got a window and can be seen and waved to!

    Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
