I got up this morning to a surprise. I was contacted by one of the parishioners at a little church where I have spoken often about DS PTSD. I just spoke about DS PTSD there Sunday before last, in fact.
So this parishioner's wife just died after a long struggle with cancer, and he wants me to speak at the funeral tomorrow Wed. 12-30-15 at 1pm. I'll be there for him, but I don't know what to say. Even though I was a hospital chaplain, I'm human, so I never do. Your pearls of wisdom as to what to say are most welcome.
Please send thoughts and prayers out in support.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

We are never promised tomorrow...
So let me tell you how she filled her days.

Not a doubt in my personal heart that you will do fine.
I had no idea how much the congregation wanted of me when I left the house this morning. I thought I was just going to add some words to the funeral service. Turns out I was the featured speaker and I supplied the music. Bruce Springsteen's song "The Promised Land" was the favorite song of the woman who died, so we played that in the church. Sounds wrong, perhaps, but it turned out to be pretty cool.

I hope it went well Muji
Muji I hope you take some time to reflect on the positives, how you handled it and what skills you used. Also how you took care of yourself in the face of fear and unknown. You used your skills and calmly made it happen. Wow what a great accomplishment.
