Being in a choir has been very helpful to me. Focusing on singing my part and talking to friends really takes my mind off my troubles. If you aren't religious, secular music groups are good, too. I personally feel the spirit dealing with me and often cry during touching songs. I didn't want to go last night because I was dwelling on the past, but I'm glad I went. I don't have a job, so it's nice to have an authority figure who cares like the choir director does. I feel like having to focus on the music has helped my brain.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. My ability to fit in with groups has been too limited for group music, but I feel my singing as the most effective breathing exercise I have tried yet. Playing live instruments regulates my pulses while simultaneously expressing, calming and integrating them.
Thanks for the reminder, ds. I thinks my gitfiddle is calling me. . .
there is no silence in our universe. no stillness. every thread of life is singing. the very building blocks of all that is are vibrating continuously. atoms are always moving, dancing. each particle (actual name) that makes up those atoms vibrates with its own unique song.
now a scientist would explain all this away with cold blah blah words. but i think translating into that there is music all the time is much more beautiful.
My experiences in choirs have been wonderful, because then I blend in by way of musical harmony into a social world and I'm not an outsider. It's great!! Thanks for this thread.
