Apartment hunting in a Boom Town sucks maximus gluteous! People are lining up to leave deposits on apartments, sight unseen, weeks before they are available for viewing! I was frustrated to tears this past Monday at the start of week 3.
My son (33) came up short on his rent. Again.
It has been decided that I will take his apartment and he will move in here with his father. The two have made excellent roommates during my periods in other states and countries. Both seem amenable to trying it with Mom in the same town. I still do not understand why they change so radically when I come back from the road, but... It is what it is.
Gotta go. There is packing to be done.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
Why do hubs and son fight only when you are around? Most obvious answer is simple jealousy for your attention. Maybe a 'we need you here and love me more' sort of thing.
The best to you Arfie.

I am still carrying the sense that the quarrel factor with my husband and sons is mostly within the "shared habits" deal. All those picky little details that make up four human lives and the shared desire to maintain the bonds at all costs. The grandson and his mama haven't been around long enough to add many of their own habits to the mix, but I am hoping they will be. It is a complex set of habits. My prayer is that I can be near enough to be part of the growth but far enough to break some no-longer-useful habits.
I get what you are saying. During the final years of my 20+ year marriage I felt like I was 'walking on egg shells'. It wasn't possible to feel homey at home w/ the ex . I remember having this strong desire to not have to continue to grovel for affection on his terms, to not have to keep bending myself into a pretzel to make home life work.
When I first left my marriage, just the quiet and being able to not be the target of someone elses stress seemed heaven sent. ...Later on I had to deal w/ what was between my own ears.
Reinvention of self as a solo entity is a long term project. I wish you the best.
i can say only good luck and hope you will get what works for you or it will be better for you
