I didn't know what Georgia Rule was about so looked it up, that would have set me off for sure. So I guess knowing your triggers and reading what the film is about first.
Another film I saw on DVD was "The Craft" - was fine up until like the last scene when one of the characters was in a psych ward strapped to the bed - I was abused as an inpatient so that was pretty awful. I can't stand films based on psych hosp's for that reason.
Also I have experienced healing from movies too.
12 Monkeys, Blood Diamond, Apocalypse Now, On The Beach and Threads totally shot me down.
Solaris, The Downfall, The Thin Red Line, Cry Beloved Country and Stay also triggered me.
Horror, crime and drama movies are a bad choice for me, as is most about the Yugoslav wars and others.
I can watch those movies and documentaries, yet in individual short parts and stretched over days and only without certain scenes.
Frankly, I stopped watching TV a year ago. I simply cannot enjoy it, except for informational programmes.
