Miracle-the hardware store sold bread
mujicaptsd
I posted in another thread that for the last 2 weeks getting inspired by my psych classes talking about PTSD right now was like that line from arfie here: going to a hardware store to buy bread. And then my classes turned amazing.
Yeah, it's been physically tougher for me for the last 2 weeks and students have been more addicted to texting in class ignoring each other. But I had a guest speaker PTSD survivor come do a speech on PTSD to my students in the college auditorium tonight.
82 people showed up to hear her! We're not a residential campus with dorms, but a commuter community college, so people didn't just walk across campus to come. They commuted back from home. Wow.
And only a handful texted ignoring each other during her speech! The overwhelming majority asked questions and gave comments you would have thought came from here they were so deep. They paid attention to each other. They built on each others' comments with generosity and care for one other. Wow again.
It made this whole tough semester worth it in one night. I'll try to remember that in the next month. We still have 30 days to go until school lets out and energy is rationed.
Nice. The last two weeks have been so tough, and then such a nice surprise happens and students open up their hearts. Little miracles do happen from time to time. I got my miracle just in time, as you can see from my original post starting this thread. I'm speaking on PTSD myself in a church Sunday, and now I have hopes it will have purpose.
Thanks to those of you here who posted in support on that other bread thread before tonight's PTSD speaker gave her talk in the auditorium. You are great support to have in between miracles, let me tell you. I DID get bread at the hardware store after all. Go figure.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
Congratulations on the success. Perseverance works its magic again!!!
