feelings
if i knew what i was so anxious about, i wouldn't be so anxious ~mignon mclaughlin
part of the human condition is that sometimes we just feel anxious. we don't know what we are anxious about; we just are anxious. being human, we launch into trying to find out what we are anxious about, because we have deluded ourselves into believing that if we understand our anxiety we can then figure the problem out, and we'll either be all right or we can worry about it.
how disrespectful this process is of ourselves! when we are anxious, we are anxious. the anxiety usually isn't there for no reason. if we let ourselves sit with the feeling and not run from it, often we can move to a new level of working it through that is beyond our brains.
we can begin to see that anxiety isn't an attack, it is a gift of understanding in our being, not just our minds.
feelings are not my enemies. what i do with them is up to me.
