Justice for us survivors of child sexual predators

One of traumas that brought me here to DS PTSD 9 years ago is that I'm a survivor, along with 4 other members of my elementary school, of a pedophile who sexually assaulted us all.  In my case, the pedophile was eventually convicted and died in prison at the hands of a fellow inmate who took exception to being incarcerated with such one such as he.  


It's rare for those of us here to be able to say they got justice like I did, though, I'm aware.  So it seems worth noting whenever the miracle does take place.  It just did again in New York City yesterday.

As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, the arc of the universe bends toward justice.  It's just that the universe is big and it takes a long time for that arc to bend.  Even so, I'm really glad for the survivors and their families today.

mujicaptsd, I'm so sorry your childhood and innocence were stolen from you. It was very brave of you to share this with us. Thank you! My PTSD is also rooted in repetitive childhood trauma. Sending you a virtual hug.

in my own case, "winning" my day in court was at least as traumatic as the original traumas with zero acknowledgement of the peripheral psychopations. you can keep your Just Ice.

i find my own justice in healing hopes.

arfie, yeah, I got lucky that I got my justice through other people and not the trauma you went through, so I wrote this post knowing it might not sit the same way with you that it sat with me. I wouldn't have wanted my Just Ice, either, if I'd had to go through what you went through. I'm grateful for the mystery of how it turned out so well for me that I got my cake and got to eat it, too, so to speak--I got Just Ice without your trauma.

Wish you'd been as fortunate as I was. It was a real gift in my life and in the lives of my 4 friends when we met in 2009 to celebrate the miracle that had been bestowed upon us out of the blue. I wrote here just to acknowledge that happens, too, incredible as it seems.

    Does anyone here have a comfort item you carry with you when you go out? For example this is my doll, Annie, and I've recently been bringing her with me when I run errrands flor have an appointment. Holding her comforts me. I've bought her clothes, crocheted for her, I recently bought a personalized blanket with her name on it.  Just wondering if anyone else has a comfort item.
