I was at my last job for only 1 year due to a health crash. So I'm really glad I've been teaching where I am for 3 years now. In this system that means 2 more years until tenure and job security.
Until then, for insurance, so to speak, I apply to the occasional job in case I don't get my contract renewed. I did get it renewed, but a job I applied to a month ago before I knew just offered me an interview.
I'm going to go through with it. It's more than teaching, it's in administration and pays a lot more. I don't know if it's for me, but I don't want to chicken out, you know?
The interview happens after the July 4th holiday. Any job interview calming tips out there for me? They'd be much appreciated.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
Wa-a-a-a-ay back when I still had tight buns, I attended a job interview seminar where the presenter told us that the number one mistake made in job interviews was to take the job. He suggested approaching every interview as if you are skeptical and expect to be sold on the job. Ask lots of questions and get all doubts out on the table.
Or, as Richard Leigh and Susanna Clark put it:
You've got to sing, like you don't need the money
You've got to love like you'll never get hurt
You've got to dance, dance, dance like there's nobody watching
You've got to come from the heart if you want it to work

Best way to get through job interviews in my experience is to think of it less like "I'm on trial" and more like "I'm a detectie hunting for clues that this is not okay here." Sounds cynical, but for me, I take a lot of notes, go in with prepared questions on pay, benefits, company structure, company policies on XYZ, their resources for conflict in the workplace, etc.---sort of a take-back-the-power and become the interviewer, not the interviewee.
Oh, and always wear navy blue. It's not as somber or grim as black, or as indeterminate as gray, as retro as brown, and lends an air of authority without being scary. Psychology of color. Avoid pink at all costs---women more than men will deem you effeminate for it---and yellow is too annoying to some people.
Otherwise, on an impractical level, trust your gut instincts. Iv'e often found that, in retrospect, what I was registering was that the interviewer was defensive or didn't know the answers to basic questions I had about company policies and procedures. Never a sign of a godo workplace if management doesn't know these things!
Much luck and blessings,
Leo
So far, so good for me and Hubster... .
Arfie " when i still had tight buns" LOL,
Muji I agree with Arfie ,
My first response in my mind ( before I started typing) was to interview them right back.
I mean this is Your life. Not theirs. If they see in you what they are looking for then they will hold out for a reply from you, and be willing to be interviewed themselves.
Just my two cents.
Since you can't take any prescription meds, have you found anything that you can take that helps you on a prn basis ??
I'm even thinking about herbal tea or .... melatonin ? I've never tried taking melatonin during the day, but ... if it's a way to manage anxiety that you're looking for ... I just wonder what 0.5mcg (or some fraction of your usual dose) of melatonin might do.
NB: I'd certainly try it on one of your leisurely Saturdays first, if possible ;-)
Good luck !
Yep looks like there going to have no clothing LOL.
Just thought it was funny:P
No offense Muji,
Once in an interview i laughed uncontrollably , I have no idea why.
I would not recommend that.
OK , umm , I must awkwardly exit.
Your gonna be fine.
Like Arfie said , if nothing else the practice is good.
