I’m not sure how to cope......

At work my best friend and a coworker were joking about cartoon sexual predator things like mikey mouses “playhouse” and various variations of that.
It hurts me in a really bad way when they talk this way due to my fathers sexual, physical, and mental abuse towards me.
I think of countless times when my father would do unthinkable things to me and I would try to hide but I never could be invisible around him.
When they talked like this my anxiety started to skyrocket, and I felt like giving up at work, all I could think of was what they had said. And since I’ve got A.D.D it sticks in my head a lot longer than others.
None of my coworkers stopped when I asked politely and in all honesty I think asking made it worse.
I’m truly disgusted with what they said and I don’t know how to cope with the things they say.

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

That said, teenagers joking about sexually related things...is one of those awkward parts of growing up. Some kids grow up early (my daughter) and so she virtually never says anything offensive. Some kids grow up late (my son) and so I have to work with him with some of the things that he says.
Mix that in with kids who have been sexually abused themselves and are trying to work out what is "normal" and not. With other kids that are trying out their "power" at pushing the limits on what's acceptable.
Thus you get...high school. In school language is more regulated than outside of it, (on the bus, after school jobs, some sports and so on).
I have no advice...especially if it was a one time thing.
But I do sympathize. High school was torture for me. Hang in there. The adult world is better.
.I agree with what Patti has written and I'm really sorry that it's hurt you
I believe sometimes people joke around without knowing or seeing that someone has been hurt by this ......xo
