I have a new therapist I met last week. She is suppose to start EMDR treatments this tomorrow and I am very anxious. I miss my old therapist who does not do EMDR. I know I have to do EMDR to see if it helps but this therapist is SOOOoo different. Guess I'll say prayer and hope for the best.

In what way is this therapist different?

it,s so hard when you have to change theripist, is't it, it takes a long time to build up trust, and getting used to them can often take so long, i am thinking of you, and saying a little prayer for you,at this hard time for you.i hope it all goes really well, and rember its ok to miss your old therpist, let yourself greive for loosing them, feel what you need to feel, so you can heal.

I'v had my other one for so long she was what a therapist is A PAID FRIEND. This one wants me to figure out stuff...I guess I have to stop and do what she says and do soul searching...I just prefer to stay busy and not think of me or bad stuff!

What is EMDR?

I, too, suffer from PTSD and am going through EMDR. It has helped in the past for my anxiety and agrophobia; I could not leave my house for a year and a half and am now working. He is now doing EMDR for my PTSD and wants me to "reprocess" that event. It happened when I was 10 years old and processed it as a 10 year old; he wants me to see it as an adult and deal with it as an adult. I hope you give this therapy a chance and I will be thinking of you. Hugs.

tom2687 It would take a long time to explain. The internet may be able to explain easier..Its is for my PTSD shutdowns when I have no emotions..Pulling up bad past and working through it I think..Haven't started because I just keep crying in the office.

It sounds like your old therapist is wonderful. I would just say to give it time with the EMDR. I have had much behavioral and cognitive therapy, and no longer have panic attacks. I NEVER thought that would happen! I still, though, have much agoraphobia, anxiety, and have been dissociating a lot because of some job issues. I had an EMDR treatment today and am really exhausted tonight. I would welcome anyone's experience with EMDR -- did it really help? I have so much I want to accomplish and became a certified teacher last December. I want to be able to teach beginning next summer, because my PTSD symptoms have limited me so much. I'm sure so many of you can understand. I'm also sorry to be rambling! It's just nice to know this support website exists. I just googled "affirmations for those with PTSD" and it came up, thank God!

CG103 I was not exhausted after my EMDR treatments. I have homework to do when I go home...I'm not really thinking about it much when I go home...But I should before something triggers a shutdown...No I AM NOT HAVING ANYMORE because I am working on that!...I can deal with the past I am now safe...Maybe once a week is not intense enough? I think I am still burying everything inside.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
