Hi! This is my first holiday back in 5years from being in the hospital for multiple physical conditions but this is the first time I will see my first cousin who sexually molested me. I have been having very active ptsd symptoms and very anxious but I want to go and see the rest of the family because I am healthy enough. Most of the fam brushes it under the rug so I don't know how to handle this

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
congratulations on your return to mainstream life. 5 years is a long time to be out of the loop. steadying support while you find your new normal.
when i am forced to choose between a social event i sincerely want to attend and the black cloud of a ptsd trigger being at the same event. i take a therapy bag with me to the event. my "therapy bag" is a discrete little bag which i can carry off to a private spot to help stabilize my feelings if i should encounter a trigger event. my therapy bag contains names and numbers of therapy supporters i can reach out to for stabilizing support, meditation readers, my therapy journal and whatever other therapy tools i can think of. often times being prepared gives me the confidence boost i need to enjoy the event, despite the black cloud on the horizon.
steadying support while you find what works for you, mk. welcome aboard.
you are not alone.
No one knows about my PTSD.
There was an incident Year's ago with a family friend's son.....Who has Downsyndrome,
Who used to het angry at ne when I understood thing's a little better then him....He would get angry because, He does understand that he's older, that he should know more......But, there is a limit to what Downsyndrome can comprehend,
To make a long story short, I tried to tell my mother about this, she said that was 35 Year's ago, not to worry about it.
I suffer from physical illments to......and the anxiety seems hit harder.
So, Your not alone.
Hey I feel you. I had a first cousin who used to abuse me as a child.
Over the years he tried to do or say things to make me uncomfortable.
The best advice is to just stay away from them especially at a family gathering.
You have the power to ignore them.
If they try to harass you let them know that it's over and that they had better back off.
I hope that you had mentioned this behavior to another trusted relative, they should understand and give you the reassurance that you would be safe in their presence.
Any kind of abuse should not be tolerated and the abusers usually are manipulators.
You be strong and confident that it's over and you are not going to put up with any crap now and never.
It's tough, you can get help and be strong again.
Enjoy your family be with your loved ones..God bless you...
I appreciate all of you
