I'm among those of us at DS PTSD who stay away from family especially at Christmas for my physical survival and mental health. Since I know I'm not alone, I was wondering if I could impose on others who won't be spending time with family.
I've never made an all out effort to catch the Christmas movies that run through the holidays. I've always just caught them on the fly, haphazardly. So I thought I'd start a list and see if it meets with DS PTSD approval with an invitation to add and/or comment.
I start the list with the only two Christmas movies I like, and go from there.
1. It's A Wonderful Life--corny, yes, but isn't it amazing that it's about suicide and Ameicans worship it anyway, as much as they stigmatize those of us who've struggled?
2. Scrooged-Bill Murray's wacky take on things really helps fend off holiday cynicism.
3. What's the one with the kid and the BB gun? Any good?
4. Never watched White Christmas, believe it or not. Looked too corny and sentimental. But should I shut up and watch it?

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
One of my favs is A Christmas Carol (1984 version) followed by the 1999 version (because I like Patrick Stewart.
Elf is always fun.

I also like Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon in Four Christmasses.

Putting kids through college making gingerbread men, Jen? Now there's a story!
Deli, now Fargo's gotten attention twice. Never thought of it as a Christmas movie. But the winter atmosphere makes sense it would come up as a seasonal film. Human limb in wood chipper was gross, absolutely.
But I think I liked it anyway just because the relentless lawman hunting down the killer in this film went so against the Clint Eastwood sherriff-type. That little pregnant cop that hunted the killer down all the while with the "Minnesota nice" accent and attitude (I know, it was North Dakota nice) was a hoot to me.
And her husband. Those conversations between the two as husband and wife were priceless. I lived in northern Iowa for 10 years near the Dakotas, so I guess that's got something to do with how it made me fall down laughing.
Thanks for adding the animated Christmas fare, Deli, the Charlie Brown Christmas and the Grinch that Stole Christmas. Added to the list, too.
