I'll introduce myself, I'm Taylor and When I was 6 years old I was separated from my family due to war in my country.
I was brought to the US to live with a foster family until I was 18 and just last year I was reunited with my mother and aunt but sadly my mother has breast cancer and they say she only has 1 year to live.
My dad fought against "the bad people" in our country until his last breath I'm honored to be his son. I wish I could have gotten to meet him.
Im currently studying at BYU and love it. I'm planning on getting a degree in Med school to become a pharmacist and hopefully make a difference in this beautiful life. :)

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

Enjoy this precious time with your mother {{{hugs}}}
Would that be the Bringham Young University? Don't mind me. . . I'm just a trivia nut with an OCD spot for acronyms. The less important the trivia, the more passionate the pursuit. Hey. . . Everybody needs a hobby.
I am a great believer in that adage that when one door closes, another door opens. I don't like spending so much energy staring at the doors that are closed that I miss the doors that have opened. Have I spotted a like-minded spirit in your story?
So, or no, welcome aboard.
Also thanks for the prayers mlro853!
Trigger Warning
I was walking by that church headquarters on a calm Sunday afternoon when I was 15. Suddenly, a military patrol hidden under camouflage in a vacant lot across the street roared it's jeep out on me. The patrol's commanding officer jumped out of the jeep and knelt me in the street to shoot me. He had mistaken me for someone else. He trained his weapon on me and pulled the trigger twice. To this day I consider those two miracles.
Then the two miracles were followed by a third. A young man who lived in that headquarters vouched for my identity as an American citizen and not the local guerrilla rebel who the patrol's commander mistakenly thought I was. I was freed. I got PTSD from that event and from other events in the war, but I'm here, I survived.
So though I don't belong to that church, I always remember and am grateful. So sad for the war in your country and that you had to leave because of it, but my story shows it may have been dangerous so it may have been wise. I'm sorry you didn't meet your dad. It's good he left you a legacy you can honor.
As for your mom, you're not alone. I moved in with my mom to live for 3 years while she fought breast cancer. It went into remission for 5 years, but then it came back. Still, I'm grateful for those years of remission.
Hope your studies are going well. You have bright plans for the future!
And hi SunCloudJD, thanks!
