the happy bah humbug is for folks, like myself, who don't care to participate in the christmas traditions. i enjoyed happy bah humbugs for most of the decembers of my life.
this year finds me missing my happy bah humbug. in december, 2018, i gave up my happy bah humbug in favor of playing up christmas for the sake of distracting my two eldest gk's from the trauma of having been seized into protective custody after a police intervention on mommy and daddy's romantic interlude. baby sis had yet to be born. in 2019, it was a distraction from having recently buried both mommy and daddy. 2020/21 it was a distraction from the covidic madness.
2022 marks the 3rd christmas since the formation of our foster family. while i feel motivated to keep what fragile traditions we have formed in those 3 short years, i find myself nostalgic for my happy bah humbug. just me and my dog. . . with the spice of nostalgia, life don't get no finer.
happy bah humbug to all of you lucky abstainers out there.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
I am a happy bah humbug'er too this year. It's been a long time since I've had the chance to connect with you and I am very sorry to hear of your recent tragedies. Covid changed everything didn't it? I found myself more isolated than ever until I was forced to move out of my place in August and decided to just drive and drive and drive to see my friends and family across the western u.s. It was an amazing trip with all it's injuries and illnesses along the way.
But here I am back in Austin and in a month to month air bnb addition to a home. The people are all gone and far nicer than what I have been used to. It is a strange holiday season for me being displaced. I am used to having my tree up, my foster dogs or my now passed little dog with me to celebrate and that was okay. It's only 2 days to get through and new plans for the New Year will come fortunately.
I hope you find new traditions that you can cherish from here on out and some comfort along the way. If anyone wants to start a 'potluck', I will bring my old chestnut soup and russian teacake cookies I used to make ;)
p.s. ....and sparkling apple cider for this almost 20 years and counting abstainer ;)
still, i reserve the right to nostalgic sighs and recollections of the peaceful happy bah humbug. i miss retirement. the syrup people keep pouring over the situation with idealized stereotypes keeps attracting fire ants.
yea, covid changed everything and it is frightening how fast the mainstream has just washed out those changes as long-standing normal. just mask it all. . .it never happened.
one of my favorite parts about living in ecuador is that christmas is a religious holiday there which you can take or leave as easily as you can take or leave Hannukah. no pressure, either way.
and there i was in line with all the other stressed out ho ho's. . .
sigh. . . the things we do for love. . .
