Gun to my head trauma anniversary-support welcome

Thoughts intrude on me every day related to how my torture session by a military death squad ended when I was 15 and a missionary kid in Uruguay.  I've told you about it, the gun to my head, the trigger pull twice, the gun jam twice.  The sound of that trigger pull by my ear plays over in my mind every day.



So when that gun's sound returns (and it does every day and more than once a day) rather than punish myself I reach out to you here for support. This being the anniversary of that trauma, it makes the holidays difficult for me alone, so your support today and all this week is very welcome.

You have my empathy for sure, end of November going into Dec is an anniversary time for me too for when I finally escaped my ex & he tried to murder me. & I also understand it making the holidays a little harder & stuff. I would go on but you actually know a lot of pieces of my story too I just wanted you to know you are not alone

virtual hug. yeah lots of sounds trigger me. only now beginning to sort them out. Gotta say tho silence is the worst. it's the blank wall the empty room the calm before the storm. the "go to bed and wait for me" from my first husband, and the torrents of nightmares. Hearing the clock ticking in my head, reliving my father's abuse as he pulled me out from under the covers , my mother's high heels clicking down the linoleum hallway...and I'm ok just washing my hands under very warm comforting water. that's the place I return to in my head

Flashbacks suck a lot. They can be a really dissociating experience. Other times just images. I feel your vulnerability muji. Giving you support. This is where I like to tell myself I need to take care of myself better today.

Thanks, y'all. Most of the day went fine, but by nightfall it did get to me, I have to admit. I had a rough night of it, and so it really brightened my day to open DSPTSD up this morning and see y'all supporting me. Much appreciated.

I slept ok last night, so I gather that this cycle of PTSD may have come full circle. THanks for your support for me through this one, and the faith it inspires in me that I'll get through the next one with your help, too.

    Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
