My neighbor brought her 8 month old nephew to my apartment this morning and let me hold him in my arms today. I never had kids, and at 65 I never thought I'd have any kids around me. But my neighbor's teenagers come weekly to watch Netflix with me and eat popcorn and now I got to hold this baby.
I have white hair and white beard, and that apparently tickled the little guy. Every time he looked up at me he smiled from ear to ear and giggled. It was really cute.
It's no cure for my PTSD, of course, but this kind of tender touch really balances out my flashbacks of the violent touch from my missionary kid past growing up in a war zone. It's really nice of my neighbors to include me in sweet stuff like they do.
Truly grateful.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

i often believe that parenting is the most healing therapy i've had on my trail of tears. there is much i wasn't able to forgive myself until i saw those traits developing in children. parenting is where life comes full circle.
Big hug <3
