As you pull into the harbor (which I've done twice on freighters, though it'll be much more fun on our sub), Sugar Loaf mountain juts straight up out of the water. A huge statue of Christ the Redeemer overlooks the city, whose skyscrapers ring the beach of famous Copacabana. We'll have FUN.

And the people. so beautiful, so exuberant. Here's a photo of a kid with a soccer ball, with the harbor in the background. It says it all. Rio is hosting the next World Cup of Soccer in 2016 after it hosts the Olympics this summer. Our sub will hit Rio at its best.

Jewells, I have actually ridden that cable car ride in the video you posted, that cable car ride up to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain in the Rio harbor. So cool for our sub to stop there. I was in Brazil this summer on my Uruguay visit. The plan is in 10 years I'll retire there on the Uruguay-Brazil border and listen to samba and bossa nova in my old age....

Yes, Lilly, that's the plan. On the border between Uruguay and Brazil. I visited the place this past July and loved it.

My big present at a welfare x-mas party (needy families) was one of the little benches that you hammer the dowels from one side, turn over and do it from the other.... a lesson in futility.

One more class then saturday polar vortex2 here...I need supplies but could get by on little I have. So As soon as I get home, stack my pillow next to the window. I will be happy to lay there in the warmth of the sub. I can't wait to see the dolphins and Manta rays, glide by in the turquoise scenery. Watch what looks to be reflectors from a distance grow to be a school of tuna passing through. Just sit back in the warmth of my cushions waiting for a dreamless sleep.

I went out and stocked up on supplies so it could be a submarine weekend for me. The forecast is for snow and single digit cold above the surface here this weekend, so it's DIVE DIVE DIVE for me!
