First Fathers Day after loss of Dad

I can not stand going anywhere today, or watchign TV everything is about fathers day!!!!!! I miss my Dad so much it hurts so bad!!!! The pain is unbearable in my heart!!!! I do not know how to get thru this holiday, its been 7 months and the pain feels like its getting worse!!!!

Yeah, Father's Day's ads are hard for me to take, too, AJ, and it's been 10 years for me. Let's hang in there for each other, ok?

I am going to make a suggestion that helped me in that first year after my parents' died. Feel free to discard this idea. Find a way to honor your dad. Plant a tree, or flowers in a pot, or make a donation to some kind of charity that he was interested in. Think of him and thank him out loud on Father's Day. Maybe write him a letter in which you say all the things on your mind about your love for him and what you are grateful for about him. You can save the letter or burn it or bury it in the ground in honor and memory of him. Sometimes I talk to my parents out loud, I believe their souls hear us. PS: that is great news about Matt's job offer.

Sorry it's this tough right now. Hugs and support as you maybe develop a new tradition. I like urban Gardener's suggestion - don't let his absence keep you from celebrating him.

Yeah AngelaJo, I'm so sorry for your loss. Each father's day from here on is going to be tough. Again, I'm so sorry. I learned this bittersweet truth from grieving the passing of my brother. It'll never be a true salve to the pain, but try and remember that the depth of your pain is proportional to the depth of your love for him. Getting to love other humans is one of the most beautiful parts of our existence. I'm sorry you're experiencing that truth in this way, prayers friend.

    I'nm exhausted. This doxycycline thing has ripped me apart and I'm eating crackers  and water. I can't take (anything) or eat (anything) except saltines and toast and maybe unbuttered watery mashed potatoes. Are we sure the cure isn't worse than the possible disease?!?!And a week to go. ***Fun cures that WERE worse than the disease:ARsenic.
