Fell Hard, Losing Independence
As y'all know, I have kidney damage from a pdoc who overprescribed me PTSD meds for nightmares. That's why I walk with a cane. I was in a wheelchair twice this year, but worked my way out of the chair to walk again. In order to stay out of that wheelchair I try to walk 3km every day.
I got 3.11km of walking in today, a little over my daily 3km goal, but I fell hard on the concrete . I have just seen my last solo walk. Bummer.
I slipped and fell hard on our own street that runs by our apartment complex. I went to cross a super shallow puddle in the street and slipped on the moss at its bottom like I'd slipped on ice.
My head banged back on the pavement, I got mud all over my shoes, the back of my jeans, and the back of my shirt. I skinned the knuckles on my left hand and skinned my left arm at the elbow.
Fortunately, I didn't knock myself out. I was able to walk back home. I took a shower and dressed my scrapes. My s/o justifiably told me that was it for me as far as solo walks went. Now I've agreed to walking only with an chaperone. Bummer. Support welcome.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

But honestly, the slip and fall could have happened to anyone, really, especially when the ground is wet...
However, I can see how your significant other is concerned as of now...
Do you think maybe, once you both realize it was an honest slip, you can happily regain your independence? Just thought I'd ask you...
still. . . my own psychic healing didn't really begin until i dropped the lone stranger act and learned how to trust humanity far enough to accept help. it took several rounds of similar atrocities for my higher power to get it through my mistrusting heart that humans are not designed to be solitary creatures. not even me.
whether that fits your own case, or knot, i hope healing happens here.
Gentle hug.... I hope that your injuries heal quickly.... xo
Glad you weren't hurt worse and that you have someone who loves you who sets limits that you yourself may not but should have.
One of my biggest fears is falling. Last time I did was in the hospital after surgery. Everyone just stood there and watched me. Nobody would help. They were all afraid of hurting themselves. I felt hopeless.
Aging isn't for the weak. Hoping you find a way to do it gracefully and inner strength even as physical strength ebbs,
Aging is a bitch that is bitchier than karma. REST today, please?
Healing hugs. And sympathetic hugs, too. I managed to cruise my leg just trying my own da*n stairs yesterday.
I am happy to hear that you weren't too badly injured. Again this is just a testament to your cheating of death and refusal to quit.
I think if I ever ended up in a wheel chair while I would be sad, I think I'd just tell myself to own this wheel chair and join the wheel chair races LOL!
Aqui contigo
