I do believe that items can hold energy from the people that own or use them, so I can see how you'd be uncomfortable walking through a room full of someone else's possessions. Will they be coming to get them soon? If not, how long does the landlord plan on keeping them? Is storage space part of your rental agreement? ... Maybe the landlord needs to clean them out so you can "store your stuff" in there (even if you don't really have stuff to store."
If the landlord won't do it, cleaning up that area might be a great job for you and your boyfriend together. Tell him you keep tripping over stuff and if the two of you clean it up, you'll feel safer going down there alone - I'm sure he wouldn't want you to twist an ankle with no one home! By cleaning it up, you're adding your own energy to the stuff, which may make it feel less weird to walk past in the future.
Hugs,
Wistala
