A month ago, the r word happened to me. Being in the military, I kept it restricted. i wanted to forget and distract myself. i didnt want to be seen as weak. I didnt even want to tell my husband. i did, a couples days after. Then, he was on deployment. I changed my report to unrestricted so he can come home. He is home, but now i wish he was on the boat and I was busy at work forgetting this. I can't stop thinking about it. I can't stop blaming and hating myself. I feel ashamed, dirty, tainted, naive and stupid. His friend even wonders how stupid could I have been, not to see the person was lying and had one thing on their mind. I hate myself for being so stupid not to realize "catching up" meant something else. If i wasn't naive, my husband wouldn't be put through this. He wouldn't have doubted me, I wouldn't feel like I failed in this marriage, and this wouldn't be my fault. I am so angry with myself.

I'm alive, I'm sleeping like a rock, and for some reason I wanted cherry juice so that seems to be helping. (??? Weirdo that I am.)***Infamous therapies over history:1. The Attic. The madwoman in the attic is a motif in literature going waaaaaay back: the nutty female relative is locked in the attic. (See: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte for a grotesquely racist version of it, and Charlotte Perkins...

Welcome to the Perseid meteor showers, the "biggies" usually every year. (The Leonids beat 'em one year IMHO).AND today much of the northern hemisphere will see 5 to 99% solar eclipse. How cool is that? Your best bet is to be in the UK or norhtern Spain, where totality is excellent before sundown. Me, I'll get a super duper tiny itty bitty slice of it, so little that it won't be noticeable. New...

The man is a criminal and you shouldn't blame yourself for not expecting criminal behavior from someone you expected to behave like a normal, decent human being.
I think you would really benefit from talking to someone with expertise in this area. There is a help line at RAINN.org and maybe a chat line too.
It really wasn't your fault and it's just painful to see you blame yourself on top of all your suffering.
I believe the military has a pathological culture around this issue based on the movie "The Invisible War."
I never reported, so I salute you for your courage. That takes such guts. Your husband should admire that, IMHO.
I suspect it's easier to decide you "missed something" than to decide bad things happen no matter how smart or strong we are. My dad and most men in my fam are military and the capacity to shift blame is *epic*. Also the "code". It's highly variable. Male vs female, officers vs noncoms, whites vs nonwhites, Us vs Them, and so forth and so on and.... You're the one who got hurt. But the fact you delayed reporting to your husband is, in military terms as I learned it from my family, "proof" you're "covering your ass".
Get therapy fast, okay? And get your husband's butt in there with you. He needs to get this both on his own account, and for you as a couple. Yes, it happened. No, you don't want to think about it, but the faster you get help, the more likely you'll find healing. Even if it's a peer group of survivors like you, whatever. (I found peerr group better than a licensed counselor, in my circumstances.)
Not. Your. Fault. Not. Your. Shame. Not. Your. Guilt. It belongs to the rapist. It belongs to the blamers.
We're here. Vent, ask, rant, anything you need. Big supportive puma power to you.
