Life is like a roll of toilet paper. The nearer the end, the faster it goes.
Has it really been 41 years (next month) since I attended my first psychotherapy sessions and Alanon meetings? If I had not personally lived the evolutions, I would not recognize either one as what is available today. Both have changed more radically than hair fashions and lighting technology.
My current phase seems to be a quest for continuity. I am, on the whole, pleased with the results of all that "program work," but remain constantly befuddled by all the name changes, acronymic shifts and philosophical merging and splits.
I do not know if I even have vocabulary to describe it. The evidence is in my spewing of $10.00 words... I always use allot of fancy words when I am confused...

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
Evolution my favorite sunbject to think about on my manic phases.... :)
Yeah time goes by fast, but what is time?...
"linear time is a man made concept" :)
I have lots of first-hand proof that communicating and speaking - however elegantly - are not the same thing.
Sigh.
But if you're using them to reach as many people as you can, then simple does the trick.

Simplicity is the natural result of profound thought.
I can't remember who I stole those from. Not in the mood to look it up.
You do have a unique style of writing. Is complex and can't say i always understand it (but my atte span its not the greatest due to my PTSD)...But its beautiful and unique.
Since then, what a trip it's been. I've had some great therapists, finding the ones who are actually PTSD specialists. Moving to different jobs, the continuity you mention has been hard to come by. And working the insurance out has been a challenge to continuity, too.
But it's been worth it. I've seen changed in treatment, as in my generation there's been a move from talk therapy to more medications. Support groups have changed less, and provided more continuity in that regard, a function DS PTSD here provides for me. A real blessing.
I have written many books. Unfortunately, the art of writing is in the re-write and I get lost in the PTSD nightmares just reading them. Re-writes feel totally beyond me. So far, I have thought it would take a team of high dollar pros to hold me steady through the process. So far. Who knows what the morrow may bring. Thanks for the encouragement.

It took 4 years of therapy to get me from the undeclared and mostly unacknowledged war on the US streets to the distant doors of higher learning. According to the racial stereotypes of our great nation, my childhood did not happen. My skin is the color of money and privileges. It is a truly mystical distance from the alley behind these exalted institutions to permission to sit on a chair inside.
God keeps telling me she has other plans.
