First Whammy:
Anniversary today. It is my mother's 87th birthday and the 17th anniversary of the emergency triple-bypass surgery which kept her breathing for 17 years in a state run nursing home. 17 years since she has been able to lift her 400 pound body from bed on her own. Her nursing home is 1800 miles from where I built my safe haven after the "Therapy Funeral" in August of 1977. I have visited her a few times, but am nowhere near to sufficient healing to participate in her care. You sold my childhood to sexual perverts, Mommy Dearest. I may need more than a single life-time to recover from that one.
Second Whammy:
The FIL, also around 87, fell and broke his hip yesterday. His private nurses rushed him from his personal estate to the finest hospital in Houston. He is scheduled for hip surgery today. Hubs wants to be there for the surgery but is having enough back pain that he is not sure he can handle the driving. I will be driving him. I am bracing for the dance with hovering private nurses and cultural traditions that remain obscure absurdities to my senses.
Sure wish I knew what to expect from my own emotions today. I plan to carry a range of therapy tools with me. Hopes of covering all contingincies. . .
Prayers (by whatever name) appreciated.

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

This is me, running for the safety of my own business. Hubs and I are still in Houston, holed up in a motel room, trying to decide what to do next. Onward through the confusion. He sure is hurt.
Thanks for the support, guys.
