For the first time since 2002 in retirement I adopted a pet--this time a lovely little white poodle who's very loving and smart. I got her from a neighbor here in Mexico who lives 3 blocks away. My poodle's brother missed her and sometimes wandered to my place to visit her, something that worried me since it meant that he was crossing streets with traffic. Just last week I walked him back home to where he lived 3 blocks away to keep him safe.
A car ran over him and killed him today. Glad it wasn't my poodle, but I'm really sorry my poodle's brother died that way. He died quickly, thank goodness he didn't end up agonizing in the street after he got hit. It was a hit and run, the driver of the car didn't stop, he just sped away.
So it goes, I guess. Bummer, though, bummer.

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

do we celebrate the safe dog?
is it fitting to call this, "mixed grief?" my brother-in-law died of prostrate cancer last week. he was dx'ed around the turn of the millennium and the doctors predicted he would die within a year. it's been a decade or so since his doctor was willing to make further predictions. my sister, his wife, has had a rough ride with the hideously long controversy. she's in shock this week.
do we celebrate the end of suffering?
do we grief the loss of life?
why can't life be simple?
sigh. . .
prayers ongoing. . .
healing hopes for all.
no exceptions.
even the hit and run driver.
