That is a problem. Television. It brings the grief of all the world right into our homes and into our lives. I don't watch the news anymore. Too much horrible stuff going on. The world is not coming to an end just yet. I am okay, and you are okay. We live in the safe part of the world. Be peaceful.

Yes a little bit.Makes me wonder about things.
And there is the possibility or retaliation somehow.Too many crazies out there.

In AA, they have the Serenity Prayer:
God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. It is the last part of the prayer most of us have the most problems with.
If the world is coming to an end, I can't change that. I cannot make that one of the things I have to worry about today.
When we have PTSD, we need to keep our lives real simple. Focus on what you need to do for yourself today.

It is OK to not watch the news. I didn't for the longest time after 9/11, and I didn't have full blown PTSD back then. The media bombards us with so much negativity that it's not healthy.

yes, it makes me anxious. just brings up all the old fears and dread.

I understand your fears and concerns. You just have to have faith in God. He is not going to let anything bad happen.

Gods not going to let anything bad happen? God doesn't work that way. If he did, would PTSD even exist? Uhm, that would be a negative!

I am going to say something that I shouldn't but this is supposed to be a safe place.
My ex-husband worked for the Pentagon. He told me stuff I did not want to hear. The US government does what they want to do and we have to live with that whether we like it or not. Apparently, that is the price of freedom.

How is this anything new?

Thanks everyone, I see that there are many opinions on this. I am feeling better not watching the news. I realize that there is nothing I can do about this. I knew this but still could not get rid of the anxiety. Just like when the Tsunami was predicted on the coast because of the earthquake in Japan. Horns were going off all day and I knew I was above the level of worry. But I could not move or leave my house because of PTSD. I am learning how to deal with these reactions. Hopefully some day with Gods work in my life and many classes for PTSD I will not have to deal with worries that dont effect me. I wont have to feel the emotions by reactions of others. I talked with my counselor and she said this is perfectly normal reactions for PTSD especially if your new to it. Which made me feel better. It just did not make sense that I could not get rid of thoughts that I never dealt with. It really sucks not being able to control and calm myself down. Talking and this sight helps like your not alone and can vent when friends that dont understand what I am going through think I am a little odd and they never felt that way before. I have lost many friends because of PTSD but atleast there is a place where you can and most people can make me feel that I am not alone. And a sign that I am getting better is that I did not let some of the comments bring me down. Thanks again for your comforting and compassion.

The end of the world (as we know it) will not come one second sooner or later than God has destined it to happen. Until that time it is up to good people to keep watch and destroy those who would harm
the innocent.

PTSD is a weird thing. It causes us to worry about everything especially things we don't have any control over. You have to trust the government to handle everything and if they don't, there is not a whole lot we can do about it. We with PTSD need to get down to the serious business of living today.

They could have caught and killed Osama a long time ago if they had wanted to. The world is not that large. They bring the damned bad news into our homes every day on the news. I probably could have gone over there and got him myself. Who was that other guy they suddenly found hiding in a hole the one who was so despised in Iran? You know who I mean. The one who allegedly had all of this nuclear warfare and didn't.

Saddam Hussein - HAD WMD, we know this because he USED them on his own people. We (our government) just waited & stalled kissing asses in the UN, until he could safely offload them all into Syria and Iran.

The people wheo say there is nothing they can do, are wrong... DEAD wrong. They can vote the politicians out and get rid of the lobbyists, and take back our country. If we don't, it will crumble underneath us and we will be living in Social Slavery.

I think Bin Laden should have been drug live thru the streets of NY and then burned and hung from a bridge so everyone that passed could see and spit on it. Just like they did to our troops.

Does it bring us down to their level? Maybe, but that's how you defeat an enemy, you fight fire with fire, violence with more, bigger, better violence. It's the only language they understand. If they understood compromise, we wouldn't be over there. No matter how much the American people don't want to believe it, we need to be more ruthless, more devious, and more devoted than the jihadists. It both scares and saddens me that we are not teaching this to our children. The only way to win is to be the stronger adversary, not the best debater.

You have only to point to history to prove it. Hiroshima was bad, but it got their attention. And ended the war. We put more stock in not killing innocent people (collateral damage) than they do, and that will be our downfall. Collateral damage IS THEIR GOAL.

Don't watch the news if you so chose, but also, don't stick your head in the sand and pretend war doesn't exist. Vote for who you think is the best leader and will keep us the safest. And vote out ANY AND ALL corruption. If we don't get it all in 2021, there's 2014. We'll just keep it up until we have once again cut our government down to size...where it belongs.
