Do you have a friend like this?

While I'm in this mood I might as well clarify my problems with my neighbour. I do try to be accepting and nonjudgmental but this is starting to stretch me. Insights welcome.
She has an unusually strong desire to compete. If she comes in she checks out my house to see if its cleaner than hers, even running her fingers across the top of my door frames to see if they are dusty. Triumphant grins if I have dishes in the sink. Although I am a clean person and a reasonable cook she acts like she might catch something if she eats or drinks here. OK I could let that go as not worth getting upset about because its probably not though just a wee bit offensive.
I mentioned I wanted to lose weight and she though already thin, starved herself and ended up with a tremor and passing out all the time. Sly digs about my weight and diet at times though.
It gets more personal. She knows I'm lonely so she constantly brags how popular and in demand she is with the intention to hurt. If I mention I talked to a neighbour, she can't stand it because she sees it as her losing the competition. If we go out somewhere together and she sees someone she knows, she turns her back on me and doesn't include me in conversation, leaving me just standing around and talks incessantly to them ignoring their attempts to end the conversation or include me. She offered a few times to introduce me to single men then ridiculed me to them, excluded me and threw herself at them because everyone has to prefer her. She obviously stands guard over her partner with this triumphant little smirk, even though she says she hates him. I am in no way interested in him or gave her any reason to think this, but she's playing a game I don't understand.
She has a partner, a teenage child at home, 2 homes, 2 cars, a professional job and money so why would she want to be one up on me all the time? I realise I'm an easy target but still...
One thing that puzzles me is that she always brings over spoiled and rotten food and gives it to me. Why does she think I would eat rancid rotten food? Is it a form of passive aggression? Look how generous I am and you should be grateful.
There's a lot more but I just want to give an overview. I know its easier to take other people's inventories than your own so I try to remember this. I try to understand what would make her that way but I think I've had enough.
Funny how history repeats, I could be talking about my older sisters.

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...
I find people much easier to understand when I take them one at a time. The generic comparisons always lead me back to the trauma train, sooner or later. With 10 siblings and uncounted Janes and Johns in my trauma train, mine arrives at extreme velocities.
Social butterfly I ain't, and I don't have enough friends to be certain, but on occasion I find myself wondering if most everybody enjoys being treated like a unique, incomparable human being.
Healthy relationships require healthy boundaries and healthy boundaries are more simple when you set them with the person in my face instead of blasts from the past.
At least, that's my theory. Repeat, I haven't successfully tested the theory often enough to be thoroughly convinced.
I can think of funnier jokes than the way history repeats. . .
Did you hear the one about the lady who started a compost and vermiculture business from her neighbor's skewed intentions?
For me if I relationship is simply too much work and if I am always waiting for the other shoe to drop I am out or at least have really firm boundaries...
I won't be someone's 'whipping boy'
Big hug.....xo
Courtesy and distance and let it roll off you, Loo. A real friend will know you're on a diet and compare notes with you on how much you want a piece of pie, in my edxperience!
As for "friends" with jealousy issues, real friends dont behave that way. It's natural to sometimes feel a little jealousy here and there but to be the root of satisfaction all the time, I can think of way better things to feel satisfied about.
