This thought just came to me recently after realizing certain things seem to trigger anxiety in me.
I am 6+ months separated from my wife after 6 years of marriage. Though the whole relationship and it got increasingly worse she would put me down and call me names.
Now if I see her name on the caller ID or pass her when driving or anything my heart starts racing, breathing hard, adrenaline pumps, and I start getting tunnel vision (fight or flight mode?). I immediately try to hide or avoid contact our of gripping fear. My reasoning brain tells me she most likely will not accost me, but my instincts don't seem to agree.
So is this PTSD or something? I don't want to have this the rest of my life since we share custody of our daughter, and I can't totally remove her from my life. I also don't know if its healthy... the fear is somewhat unreasonable.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
Seems like your interaction with this person has definitely left you shaken and anxiety is understandable. That happens a lot with relationships, is something to consider.
If I were in your shoes Id get to a counselor for help. Even if its not PTSD, it would still be helpful.
A lot of people who get in abusive realtionships had abusive childhoods.
If you did she may have triggered your childhood issues....But only a doc can say for sure if you have PTSD.
Thanks for the input. I will bring this up the next time I go in. I suffer and am treated for mild depression-anxiety.

Maybe ... maybe it's a better fit for what you're currently experiencing ?
Either way ... I wish you peace, health, and strength.
"If symptoms last for more than a month, then the patient might be instead diagnosed with PTSD."
So ... hmmm. Maybe it is a PTSD case. Either way, hard to argue with the recommendation of trying to talk to a counselor about your situation and your symptoms.
I hold that internet diagnosis is downright dangerous, but you can certainly pick up some valid pointers for dealing and moving on here. We do tend to have deeper experience with that challenge than you will typically find at the office cooler.
