I've had a tough few days. Today I couldn't get out of bed. In fact, I couldn't make it TO bed last night, I actually just slept stranded on my couch. As I've explained here before, the Chronic Kidney Disease I got from a psychiatrist when he gave me too many PTSD meds means there's too little oxygen in my blood by the time it reaches my extremities.
For years, that's meant trouble for my feet, so I've been in and out of a wheelchair 3 times. When I can walk, I walk on a cane. This month, though, it's affected my hands. I've started to drop plates of food on the floor and so forth.
Today it went farther. The extremity it affected was my brain. I was unable to function as if I were drunk all day long.
Thank goodness I have a health care aide here in retirement in Mexico who can step in when things go this way for me with my kidney disease. Not only that, she brings her kids in to help me, too, which I never counted on happening when I planned to retire more inexpensively by moving to Mexico. Her son walked my dog for me.
I knew the CKD would advance some day. Now it has gotten to my head. Fortunately, the help I arranged in advance for this moment is there for me. I do feel badly about not being there for you, though. I hope I can get back to offering peer support soon. Blessings to all.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

It was AWESOME of you to say that sharing my troubles was support: “you ARE offering peer support by sharing your troubles here, muji.” ar Thanks so much for saying that I’m an inspiration to all. I needed that. The CKD affected my hands so badly that I had to be spoon fed my breakfast this morning, and I had to drink my coffee through a straw.
The good thing was that I had someone there to spoon feed me breakfast and put the straw in my coffee cup for me. They never saw me so affected by CKD before so it took some instruction to train them on site, so to speak, with stuff like “could you hold this toast to my mouth for me so that I can bite it?” and stuff like that.
Once I had breakfast, though, things began to get less woozy, and by afternoon I got my own lunch. They said they’d come earlier to get me breakfast tomorrow, so the day ought to get off to a better start. Fingers crossed.
