Since I have been away from home, I've become more dissociated from my family and myself. Watching television almost the whole day, listening to the hurricane howling, and slowly, i thought I was lost.
My heart pounded fast. I didn't know where I was. I forgot where I am and who I was with. I think it took me over 10 mins or so to remind myself where I was. I went into prayer, telling God what kind of world i imagine to be in. A world that's not the one we live in, free of harm and disharmony. Heaven was the place I thought of. To bring Heaven on Earth and rule it with peace.
I think that my dissociation affects me. It's supposed to be, or it is, a defense mechanism from harm, but once I am brought out of it, depression takes over. My being away from home is healthy, but all I ever do is run when something big happens to me. It leaves me drained. I go back home and my parents welcome me, but it's not love that brings me back home: it's the hole that make me want to fight but I have nobody to pour into me or lend a true listening ear to me.
The hurricane is like this disorder: raging monster of winds and floods.

I don't like wind... almost a strong distaste for it. Disturbs me to my core if that makes sense. I'm exhausted but can't shut my head off. I too am listening to the wind howling and the sleet blasting the sides the house.

I disassociate as well. I go into what you do and then my dog comes to me to bring me out of it. I cant get close to anyone for fear of having a ptsd attack and looking like a idiot.

i also dissociate sometimes. there are days when i'm fully present. there are other days when the world is too much, and i can barely stand to interact with people, and i just want to isolate and live in my head, because the world i have there is better than the real world.
