I have been daydreaming since the past 33 years. I was sexually abused by my father, have a borderline mother and an abusive brother. I got out of two traumatic marriages. My daydreams have never gone away despite years of therapy. I am hoping to put it out there so it might help. I have been diagnosed with ptsd and dissociative disorder. I struggle constantly to be present. Today i was listening to music twirling around getting lost in my daydreams. I am scared to talk about the characters in the daydreams because i don't want to betray them. I feel ashamed writing this down. I am hoping expressing it will get it out of me and make it less real. I lose time when i am lost in daydreams and am not aware of my surroundings. I feel like I am the only one with this problem.

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

You are nowhere near alone with that symptom. In my therapy network, "Daydreams" and "Dissociation" are pretty close to synonyms. I hold that they are different by degree. I am still partially present when I am daydreaming. I am on another planet when I am dissociated. The debate rages. . . Perhaps I just enjoy my "daydreams" enough that I am looking to justify keeping them. I take that risk. My daydream worlds are far more attractive than this desperate plane of existence.
I shoot for balance with my daydreaming. I allow myself to indulge, but monitor carefully for the over-indulgence of dissociation and begin plying therapy tools when I even suspect I am crossing that line.
Glad you felt safe sharing about it here, Mama. Gentle support while you sort. Sort freely. Sort often.
It is important to know what is the truth and what is imagination getting carried away. The truth sets you free, but powers that be can carry a presence that is disturbing to say the least. the Power that is in you is stronger tho than those and you can overcome by God's strength! I have had lucid dreams where there is a heavy presence in the room and I can't get it off of me. I am sure this is a evil that lingers and returns now and then because of my past hurts and abuse as a child. I am stronger now tho and every time it starts I just say Jesus over and over and they flee. I haven't had them for a long time, I refuse to let my self dwell on those things, and when they start I turn on different music or a tv show or just start counting 1-1000, 2-1000, 3-1000,...as if I am counting seconds and I continue till I sleep or stop the thoughts. I also pray, God is my peace. It isn't easy, I know, I have been there! Another thing that helps get rid of sticky negative thoughts that can undo me or take my peace is that I take magnesium and gensing pills. They both help calm me and relax my tension and ease my thoughts, they truly help!
