With this pandemic, quarantine, having to teach our children from home, working from home, isolation from family and friends, our minds are numb, emotions are at an all time high and our bodies are drained. Now more than ever it is important that we take care of our mind, body and spirit. What does self-care mean to you and how can you incorporate this into your daily routine?
For me self-care is helping my-self first, so that I am able to help others. Before I can help others, I need to be somewhat emotionally stable, rested enough to be able to function and have nourishment, even if it's bing watching a series or eating a dozen cookies, what ever it takes to get me there. I am able to incorporate this into my daily routine by taking time out to watch the news, read, meditate and exercise. Even if that break is for 15 minutes several times throughout the day. Sometimes I need a day or sometimes just a few minutes will do.

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.

Hiya My internet is changing today and I'm not sure how long the switch over will take, I'm hoping 24 hours at the most, but I'm probably being too optimistic We are changing to another company and going full fibre for the internet. But at least it's changing to the one payment rather than the payment for the home landline phone and a payment for the internet. So I'm not going to be on here...

It got put to the test when I was in an airliner crash landing in Chicago at Midway Airport. It does work that way, I found.
It's the same in any crisis, PTSD-related or not, it's tried and true. Self care first.
Remind me never to travel near you, ok? Car bombings, airliner crashes .....I thought I was bad luck being the passenger in 13 car crashes, but I think you have me beat. :-)
Another way to look at my surviving car bombings, a plane crash, muggings, a car bombing, and soldiers in war time is that it's only that I represent what everybody reads in headlines of newspapers everywhere every day. My experiences are really not that uncommon. Stuff happens.
I look at it that way so I don't give in to the agoraphobia that comes with my PTSD symptoms. I truly am like anybody else and I'm tempted to fear leaving the house. But I made friends with my next door neighbors who check in on me and take me out to our local pub every night.
I made sure, too, in choosing to live between Pittsburgh and DC to make myself get out to shows at one or the other twice a month, something I followed through on until the pandemic lock down. I did that even though I had to go to concerts and sporting events alone, with no date or friends along.
So in response to reminding you not to travel with me, facts show I'm actually the opposite--the guy you should most want to travel with for your safety. Headlines show things happen every day to lots of folks, and I'm the guy who can get you through them safely.
Looking forward to today's meme!
It's nice that we're here to support one another.... The memes truly help...
