Cried about PTSD in front of class
mujicaptsd
Well, it happened. In the psyc class I teach at the community college to nursing students, we did our unit on military suicide prevention. I showed the movie The Hurt Locker. But this time when we were done and I did my short wrap up lecture, I teared up.
Right in front of the whole class, too. My voice cracked and everything.
I was just telling them how much it means to someone with PTSD when others get past the stigma and just listen, just offer their non-anxious presence.
I was embarrassed, but I was thinking about how much it means to me that people do that for me here at DS PTSD when I come and pour my heart out here. It means a lot.
Anyway, Sunday I speak at that church about PTSD. Hope I can keep from crying there.

Upon his departure, he remarked, "I am in many people’s pockets; no one will believe you." Have you ever grappled with the silence that follows sexual assault, where the perceived impossibility of being believed necessitates self-censorship?
