Wish I'd thought of that. Doh.
I'm glad color coding them works for you, too. I guess I have a little bit of a photographic memory or something, who knows? During the exam when I had trouble remembering something I'd close my eyes and just picture the card itself. Not the thought, just the thing. And then it would come back to me that way, believe it or not. Must be about access to another part of the brain.
You've got this, Neo. I think those of us with PTSD may actually be able to use mental tricks to do better on tests than others, if we use memory devices. I mean, after all, one of our symptoms is involuntary recall of bad things, right? Flashbacks and stuff. So why not turn that brain capacity around to do good for us voluntarily to recall things for tests? Kind of like when a comic book superhero survives a bad incident but then that's how they got their superpower after all. Like with my favorite Spiderman. From the Internet:
"The bite of an irradiated spider granted high-school student Peter Parker incredible powers. When a burglar killed his Uncle Ben, Peter vowed to use those abilities to protect his fellow man"
You're my superhero, Neo. You were there for me until I got tenure last week. Now you go get 'em, my friend!

I really like your superpower idea. After all, there always seems to be a price that has to be payed for getting one. I generally prefer anti-heroes though, Spiderman is cool but a little too nice. My favourite is probably John Constantine (magician and con artist, learned magic to defend himself from his abusive father).
Hahaha! That's a great story, Atec!
I'd rehearse out loud like it was a debate. I'd talk to my stuffed animals or cat or whatever, but it helped me *hear* my thoughts. Freaky, but there you go.
I hate not knowing the topci ahead of time. When I had the "entrance" exam, it oculd've been any topic, from current events to history to literature to music to art.... Basically, anything you can write an essay about. Including the year before me, which got "The most important science in your life: Biology or PHysics?" .... Whoa. Needless to say, I saw a current events topic and about wept with gratitude. *whew* But it was 5,000 words written after two hours of humanities testing (multiple choice) and two hours of math-0sciecne before that.... All of that *after* admission! It was to "place" us to our best advantage for advisors, etc., and to get scholarship money. I won the money, btw, but geez....
Anyway, yes, I talked to myself about everything/anything that could come up on the test in the math-humanities parts, and it set me up great for the essay.
Luck wishes continue!
Yup, it sucks not to know the exact topic. That's why I almost look forward to my oral exam, I got to pick my own topic. (Picked the CSI-effect).
Wow, that entrance exam does sound like a *lot*. I'll apply to scholarships as well once I'm done, I hope I can study abroad.
