I have been dealing with triggers for over a day. It's a combination of things. My therapist told me to avoid thinking about things we worked on last week until the next session when she is back from vacation. Yesterday, the feelings and thoughts came flooding back in. I tried to distract myself by focusing on my girls. I ended up being stirred up by things they failed to do like putting toys away, dirty clothes in the hamper, and leaving food wrappers all over the place. It triggered all the feelings I had as a kid, that no one cared about me and my life was pointless. I had some deep thoughts of suicide in the basement (my former torture chamber with the ex-husband). These thoughts shifted to the old standby, cutting. The desire was extremely strong and I kept seeing myself do it. I suppose a positive step forward was that I changed clothes and hit the stationary bike instead. It helped but I am feeling quite down about the risk of being triggered. Also feeling angry that I am needing to learn these basic coping skills because no one cared enough about me as a child to actually help me learn how to cope. They preferred to ignore me or punish me for crying. Just feeling a bit pissed.

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.
