Here I go comparing again...

Humility versus humiliation

My current opine:

Humility is accepting my place in the scheme of things.

Humiliation is belittling. A drive to diminish my place in the scheme of things.

Thoughts? Opines?

Humility: A quality of knowing one's worth with grace and without pride.
Humiliation: The enforcing of another's sense of superiority at the victim's expense.
Humble: Not proud or puffed up. Accepting of one's "place" in society, originally ("of humble origins", of "humble" means").... always means smallness, it seems, and yet tohave humility was taught to me as a virtue. Confusing at best when you're 7.

I agree that by having all of those qualities your are actually demonstrating one thing: that you are a human.

All the others that can not demonstrate such qualities are not human.

That is my opinion of the matter.

Humility is a quality one chooses for oneself. Humiliation is what another does to one. No?

I am very hard on myself. What I have called, "Self Abuse." I beat myself up before anybody else can get to it. I beat myself so hard that no one else has anything else to batter. My worst humiliations are self-inflicted. Self sabotage?

With humility, I can see that not even I can be wrong 100% of the time.

arfie, that is one of my maladaptive strategies too. i am slowly trying to say aloud even i must be right now and then.... even broken clocks cannot beat me at that, right?

    I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying.  I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there.  I think that I will start writing in it again.  It's so therapeutic.
