when i was in AA i attended a celebrate recovery meeting. I recall it as being more christian/spirtual emphasis, was not for me, IDKN if thats the same or not.

It was geared more to people with problems and there is a group meeting and then they brake up into male and female groups to talk .

There were a lot of people that had drug are alcohol problems and women with abuse issues. It was like the 12 steps that AA uses.

At the time I tried I was still to out of it from the PTSD,They did ask what problems I had and I told them that.There were people there that had abuse problems and I am sure that some had PTSD .

I am currently in celebrate recovery. It is a twelve step Christ centered program with eight principles based on the beatitudes set forth by Jesus in the book of Matthew. It is a good way to build a support network. Twenty five percent of the participants are in recovery for addictions. The other seventy five percent have what is called hurts, habits and hangups. I too have ptsd along with being an adult child of am alcoholic. I would suggest that everyone give it a chance and if you don't "feel it" in one group try another. Just give it six weeks.
