Today was going alright, my allergies acting up but nothing too serious. Per usual my best friend and I, we'll call her T, exchange multiple texts as we do everyday. We send each other GIFs and memes to keep each other entertained as we both have pretty boring desk jobs. On Wednesdays, she's goes into work at 10 instead of her usual 7:30. So when she didn't text me bright and early with the usual "Good morning sunshine!" I wasn't concerned.
About 15 minutes ago she called me saying she had just been at work for only a few minutes and that as soon as she sat down at her desk her ex called her and said he had been in a car accident. T and her ex still live together unfortunately and they share HER car. He is not on her insurance and she said when he called he sounded like he got hurt....she's on her way to him now and I hate that I'm at work and can't be there for her...
On another note, her mentioned the car accident sent chills down my spine and I started to dissociate but when I heard her crying it snapped me out of it somehow. I can be mentally and physically weakened by my PTSD but when someone I love needs me it's amazing that all of those fears and triggers can be wiped away. I am thankful to have the "mom gene" in the sense where I can instantly be calmed if someone I love is in a crisis so I can be there for them. I wish I could just turn it off like that all of the time.

Jay gave us an assignment to complete the following sentence: I am stuck because? I don't describe myself as stuck, but to finish the sentence, I would say that I am stuck because I am tired. When I have energy, I do...
Balance in all things. . .
In balanced doses, the way peer support allows us to acknowledge our own pain without letting my world crumble to isolation is, indeed, powerful healing mojo. It isn't quite as efficient as a light switch, but it's one of the most efficient tools in my psychotherapy toolbox.
So sorry for the mess your friend T suddenly found herself in, but she's really lucky to have a friend in you to stand beside her, Trichster724. Good for you.
