Here's one! I understand your thoughts. I was a full-time minister for a while and then part-time as my career direction changed. I still speak at churches from time to time as I tour, but it never feels right, almost hypocritical to speak to others about "control" and "peace" when most days I have none... I struggle a lot with that, but have found that if I am honest, the ministry still remains alive no matter how I am doing personally. I usually start with, "My name is Eddy and to be honest, what I am talking to you about is something I struggle with everyday..."
In this regard I can give you a word: you said "I was given a calling but my ptsd makes it difficult". My father is a minister, I was full-time for many years and toured the U.S. meeting ministers from all over. If ptsd wasn't making your life difficult in ministry, something else would be, so take a little comfort in that if you can:)

What chasing4life said is very true and a great approach, maybe your calling is because you have PTSD and understand those who have it, or have problems in general, so you can help them.

Being honest to those you'll be reaching and letting them know you're human and not avobe them is a great way to help people.

The tharpists that have helped me most are those who have shared a little of their lives with me, and who have never put themselves in a position of authority.

I know what you mean if we were not attacked then something would be wrong. I used to be the director of a place called the Christian Home for Men, I would preach every Thursday, lead bible studies, but that time seems so far away from here. Thank you for the encouragement!!

I was given a calling a few years ago, but decided not to do anything about it because i thought my PTSD and other problems would get in the way of me being a good minister to the people. I am starting to see now, though, that it's what I've been through that might actually better help me to connect with my congregation on a more personal level.

Though, I am unsure if being given a call means that you always have a calling or if it's a window of opportunity that, when missed, goes away.
