Blood curdling PTSD Flashbacks--Argh! Help!
mujicaptsd
I'm reaching out for support, y'all, because as I sat down to lunch I had one of those blood curdling PTSD flashbacks. It was so harsh that it made me dizzy sitting down, like I was going to faint, which I have done 5 times now in the past.
For those who don't know, one reason I'm here at DSPTSD is that I got PTSD as a missionary kid growing up in a war zone overseas and a military squad mistook me for the enemy and took me prisoner and tortured me.
I mean, they literally tortured me, I don't mean that what they did just felt like torture to me. They tortured me like they tortured enemy prisoners to interrogate them until they figured out that I was a citizen of the country that sponsored them, the USA, and not one of their local enemy combatants.
By then, of course, it was too late. Their torture had done its traumatic work, and so that's what I re-lived today as I sat down to lunch and had a harsh flashback from it. Support welcome.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

ya got me wondering anew about my academic conditioning theories. you were intimately involved with academia and its bizarre calendar for quite a heap of years. if i am remembering rightly, this is your second year without the dictates of the academic calendar and? ? ? could that sudden void be part of your current vulnerability.
the 4th academic year since i was called out of retirement. the return to that piece of familiarity seems to be going a long way toward calming the fall psychopations i experienced during retirement. even for those of us who never achieve your levels of academic achievement, preschool to the kiddos graduating high school is quite allot of conditioning.
whether that makes sense to you, or not. . .
steadying support while you survive yet another round.

Prayers sent my friend... xo
It's weird how this time I'm not distracting my mind from them by playing guitar, watching a live concert on tv, walking, all of that stuff. The mind goes to those places just fine, but the body flashes back regardless.
Looking forward to when this episode passes, and I'm very grateful that you support me in the meantime. Blessings all.
