Better Day-Thanks for Melatonin Tip
mujicaptsd
It's a better day today this morning, y'all, so I wanted to pass the good news along first thing. Thanks to Melatonin, I was able to escape the PTSD episode last night and the CKD pain that crippled me by getting to sleep. Since it's a hormone and doesn't get processed by the kidneys, Melatonin's kidney-safe for me, thank goodness. For anyone else in our group who may have PTSD insomnia, it's a tip I'm glad I got here and that I'm pleased to pass along.
Be well, everybody, and thanks for your support. :-)

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

So glad you are getting a better day, amigo :-)
Along with Melatonin, let me not fail to give credit to Prazosin, too. When Seroquel damaged my kidneys, I went 5 years with nothing at night in its place. Along came the discovery of Prazosin and what it did for Iraq combat veterans. Being a 6 year civilian combat veteran myself, it did the miraculous job for me that it did for them, and it did it through my liver and not my kidneys, too. I'm super grateful for that.
Hey, Mars1212, thanks for the run down on meds that you shared here. I wonder if you now whether the ones you mentioned are kidney-processed or not. Don't go too far out of your way to find out if you don't know, but if you do I'd be interested in finding out if they're compatible with me and my CKD like Prazosin and Melatonin are.
You mention meditation, too. I joined a weekly meditation group the same week I got diagnosed with PTSD. It's been the key to how I've been able to adapt to living with a chronic disorder. Then for 10 years it really helped me with patients and their families when I worked in the ER as a hospital chaplain. Meditation rocks!
