. . .not in spite of.
History, as well as our contemporary world, is chock full of indomitable spirits who suffered horrific handicaps/illnesses and responded to those handicaps/illnesses by achieving wonders. Some have said that physical fitness would have distracted them from those achievements.
Three I have enjoyed knowing through their achievements are:
Anne Sullivan, Teacher. Legally blind herself and raised in horrid conditions, she went on to educate the entire world on the need for schools and compassion for the blind, deaf and mute.
Frida Kohla, Painter. After suffering compound injuries in a horse and wagon accident as a child, she spent the majority of her childhood in convelescance. While her peers were playing and flirting, she was learning how to paint. Her paintings are still famous world wide.
Stephen Hawking, Physcist. Diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gerig's Disease) at the age of 21. The prospect of an early death motivated him to make notable advances in physics and cosmology. 51 years later, he is still with us and still achieving.
Anybody else got heroes who channeled their freak factor toward a better world for us all?

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
Keep talking out your experience to let it go
Got heroes?
Not flashy...but definitely my heroine.
Thanks for the inspiration, Patti.
And then the uks need to feel like it's a good UK with morals, leads to the bad ideas that harm people get out lawed.
I guess Ghandi on the beaches is a prime example
Bad ideas like patriachy,
Don't know who actually concluded that if your not conscious from drink to consent- it's rape, but isn't that great that the strategies of the abuser and victim blaming are slowly being sanely noticed and made illegal in this rape culture
I don't the names of the women involved in fighting the lack of the right to vote in UK sorry... But throwing yourself under the queens horse, getting labelled insane and carted off, all strike me as heroic in the face of mass insanity and abuse
It makes me hopeful that this seeming desire of UK government to be good or at least appear good, means we could all just rise up and fight to out law bad ideas that are infecting the human consciousness and create a boundary against future abuse for all
I currently hate mental health stigma, I honestly thought that having my head "broken" by abusers, meant I was the innocent party in need of headling my broken leg. And that people would understand that and be supportive
But instead they just persecute you and remove work and education from your life
What did I do to deserve being banned the right to education and a good job?
Oh that's right I was victim blamed and slandered for the rape too
People sux, society sux, I really admire those prepared to die to fight back the evil in the world and insist that the law change to protect everyone
