Beatification is a recognition accorded by the Catholic Church of a deceased person's entrance into Heaven and capacity to intercede on behalf of individuals who pray ~wikipedia
i hope the pope doesn't sue me for co-opting one of his more sacred yaddah-blahs, but ? ? ? hit me with your best shot, popey-poo. . . yes, i am a heretic. . .
since inheriting my 3 orphans at my son's funeral. i have begun calling my gk's, "my foster kids" to avoid the saint grandma stereotypes that have served as harsh reminders of just how much my little ship of fools lost in that fatal car wreck while promoting heinously innaccurate stereotypes. love her or hate her, the grandma stereotyps are no more accurate than any other stereotype. life is not a two-dimensional proposition. stereotypes require a great deal of assumption to work. not even a devout barbie girl or her jock-itchy ken can be a shoe-in for any the cultural stereotypes. a former child prostitute as saint grandma? ? ? do you really expect me to be flattered or feel realistically supported?
on the more pragmatic end of calling my gk's, "foster children," grandparents have no automatic sway with school, doctors, etc. calling them foster children establishes that i have legal guardianship and am empowered to act on their behalf.
dunno what i'm reaching for here. . . just venting, i think.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
Here with you amiga. Just sipping my coffee, listening
Sending support, hope & many prayers
Gentle hugs <3
Now there you said a mouthful. I treasure that I at least have this place to come to where folks get that things are much more than just black and white. In my case not about having children but about having been a child, Here I can talk about my mentally ill mom honestly and acknowledge the scars she left on me. I cannot be in denial about the physical scar on my face that I see in the mirror every day when I shave.
And yet here you let me not just paint my mentally ill mom as only being a villain. I still loved her until the day she died last year. She was mentally ill AND my mom, and here I can walk and chew gum about that at the same time.
I get how sainthood for you would not be supportive any more than just making a villain of my mentally ill mom isn't supportive of me. In fact, those who apply labels like those to us and move on seem to use them, IMHO, as a defense mechanism to prevent the risk of getting too engaged with us.
Engaged, my friend, and sending you support however it is that you really need it.
may the circle one day be broken

a better home could be awaiting
if we join hands in healing prayer ~ Ada R. Habershon
note
i feel even more sacrilegious messing with ada habershon's classic than thumbing my nose at the pope, but ada habershon visited me in a dream one night and told me, "those were the original lyrics, hon."
you're welcome, queen. i am catholic, so i feel like a have a bit of license teasing papa. he doesn't even spank me for it. yes, beatification is a long and sacred process for roman catholics. in vatican city, you have to be dead for 5 years before you qualify for the rest of the canonization process. vatican city hurries for no human. protestants move much more quickly. atheists, etc move even quicker. i mostly translate their beatification as, "better you than me. increase your social distance, please."
yup, those 10 commandments are pretty basic, though i still struggle with the one which commands me to respect the mother and father who sold me into prostitution before i could say, "prostitute." works in progress. . . i at least need to respect their dna,
