I've had a restful time in my community college's Fall Break yesterday and today. Now it's time to get back at it again tomorrow. I have 8 months left in my 40 year teaching career to make it to retirement. I nearly went on disability more than once due to my PTSD and my chronic kidney disease.
Like all other teachers around the world, it's turning out that teaching via Zoom from home is more of a workload, not less. As a solo act, I have to be all things to my students whereas teaching face to face there was a department secretary to help with their questions, there was a print shop to make copies of handouts, etc.
Now I do it all while also having to type up 40 years worth of handwritten notes I used write by hand on the chalk board. They have to be typed up for each class to be seen on a computer screen rather than written by hand with chalk on a chalk board in a face to face classroom. I end up staying up until 1am to 2:30am night after night just getting my digital class prep done from my 40 years of handwritten class notes.
This last year of teaching before retirement is turning out to have its new challenges. Support welcome as I go back to it again.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

You must be exhausted.
May these last 8 months just fly by!
Another hug as the countdown to retirement is on.... xo
The work day began for me at 7:30am, went through lunch without stopping, and just wound up for me at 4.34pm. That's not as long a work day as I used to have by a long shot back in the day. But now I do find it to be a bit of a load. Still it's Wednesday, and so there are only 2 days left until TGIF, right?
Muddle, muddle, muddle.
I'm trying to nap during the day today so I can function tomorrow and start another teaching week again, but I'm really concerned.
