Every since my car accident I'm having trouble being around people. Even my own family. I have noticed that I just feel awkward and uncomfortable around anyone. Whether they are strangers or close family members. My family keeps saying how lucky I am and how I could have dyed. To be honest I get tired of hearing that. I know it could have been a lot worse. I just don't know what to say or how to act around people. Does anyone else feel this way?

I never have understood how knowing it could have been worse is a consolation. The cliche often triggers my hyper-vigilance with worries that somebody is planning a demonstration of how much worse it could be. But. . . Social anxiety clouds my logical processes so heavily that I try to stay focused on managing the anxiety instead of trying to understand other people's logic under the influence of anxiety.
Do you have any exercises for handling this symptom?
And arfie I don't have any exercises to deal with it. Any recommendations?
Here is an article I've been giving the old soft chew in my quest to find better ways to deal with the gnasty psycho-beast. I've tried most of the exercises it suggests, but I don't quite have words of my own for it yet. Works in progress.

This is your story. However you get through it is how you'll journey through this.
It took me a while to process how I felt about it. Nobody else can tell you how you feel.
Thanks spacepony.
Exactly what everyone has been telling me fireflywings! Much love♥
