Another Police action last night
And I just now at 10:39 pm got a text from management. It sounds like they haven't found the person. My adrenaline is pumping again and I've been awake for 27 hours.
Around 4 a.m. I heard stomping above my apartment on the roof. I am on the top floor. I had the blinds half closed so didn't thought I saw a spotlight outside bit was finally drifting off to sleep. I heard it for 10 minutes frozen. Then frantically started checking to see if there was an attic like the last place I lived where a tenant had swat called on him and he broke into adjacent apartment through attic. The other place was actually 5 star this place brand new nice but in a sort of sketchy area surrounded by homes with some homeless. Thank God no attic.
I calmed down enough to call 911, I saw the cop outside my slider and I opened it just pointing above me quietly. Thankfully he told me he believed it was the officer looking for the suspect. I turned on the scanner and listened for an hour to them hunting for a vagrant with a 6 inch blade the ripped the key pad off the entrance to 3rd floor and gained entry. He was threatening tenants.
They
Never
Found
Him
How am I supposed to sleep with this text telling me to lock my doors. I haven't slept I haven't left the apartment. I just got over the last incidence of gunfire 2 weeks ago. D*mmit y'all. I finally felt safe here because of the security. But this guy got past the security guard ripped off the freaking key pad! How am I supposed to feel safe now? I just moved here and don't even have all my stuff in yet.
Just feeling so alone and mentally emotionally frazzled.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Thx for listening
Just make sure it's always pointed away from you.
Are you okay today?
perimeter checks are my primary tool for channeling hypervigilance. proactively looking for clear and present danger goes a long way in calming my anxiety. for what it's worth, i turn off electric lights for these perimeter checks. i can see further with my night sight and an electric light advertises your position. i can literally hide an army in the shadows of a security light. the night blind morons inside that circle of light are literally blind to everything outside that circle of light. proof available.
I need more information about how they got in and why police couldn't find them to further calm my nerves.
I'm really glad I have an alarm system in the apartment. Makes me feel like I can sleep.
Thanks for the input.
Then a police helicopter was flying overhead. It seems every time I finally am able to tamp down my hypervigilance, something else happens. It's like this weird vortex I'm living in.
I know I'll look back and laugh after I leave this place but right now, it ain't funny.
Ears peeled, scanner on, alarm armed, shutters closed. I'll feel better when I move bed into bedroom and I'm not by window but bullets do travel through walls I'm well aware of. I've stopped watching news about shootings but I cannot avoid this. Anybody? Guess I can start taking my prazosin again.
--Hyperviigilant insomniac out. Peace y'all
