Any tips for dealing with anniversary reactions? I experienced trauma 12 years ago on April 1st and been having anxiety/depression as the date approaches. Also, any ideas on how long after the anniversary it will subside? I am on lexapro now for the anxiety.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

1) Arrange for back-up. I let my most trusted peer supporters know that an anniversary is coming and they check in on me often while I process.
2) Self-care supplies. I make sure I am well stocked on comfort items like good, easy fix food and drinks, candles, bath oils, hobby supplies, etc.
3) Therapy tools. Meditation readers, grounding materials, etc.
Gentle support while you ride it out, RA. We are here for you, if you need us. Cyber-backup?
