Some of you may know, though most may not. I gave a baby girl up for adoption 12 years ago and I am now learning that a lot of the psychiatric stuff I have had to deal with has been laid on her. I was diagnosed bipolar 1 when I was 16. She was diagnosed bipolar 1 when she was 8. I mean is that even possible??? I talked to her for quite a while today and in the end all I could do was tell her about DS and then tell her mom. Her mom is going to come in and check it out and then either approve it or reject it. I'm hoping that she'll allow this kid to come here and make friends and create a support network to help her make sense of what she's going through. But is that enough? I told her to think of me as an ally but I don't know if it's enough. I don't know if any of what I'm doing in regards to her is enough. She is so fragile and so confused. I don't want her to go alone but I don't want to make it harder than it is.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Preciousbabygirl. There's a lot riding on this. Hope she feels welcome and supported, my friend.
This is peer support and you have her back.... Hopefully her mom is working with professionals...
I would look into Bipolar Assoc in her area and see if they're aware of any in person groups for young people again I'm not sure of her age
Or therapeutic groups.... I think what helped me most the first couple of years was group therapy
It's rough at first we all know that but we have a treatable disorder sweetie.... I hope that she'll find stability soon..... Big squishy hug.... xo
Preciousbabygirl, but I imagine the money's not there for that. It's good that she chose HIM to open up to, though, because it might pave the way to her opening up to one of those live support groups that her mom is looking for. Sending you support as you reach out to be her ally.
II think the first importsnt thing will be getting her stable on meds
They have a lot of resources for bipolar and depression.
