I get angry when people compliment me. I have for as long as I can remember. Okay, jerk-off, where's the fine print? What mean trick is attached? None? You expect me to trust somebody who could find good in somebody as worthless as me? I'm crazy, not stupid!!
I take it as a sign of progress that I haven't punched anybody for complimenting me in recent years, but I still haven't gotten further than curbing my anger response and muttering a simple, "Thank you." Well. . . Once or twice I've been able to think of the compliment later and agree that I done good. Once or twice. . .
Am I just the queen of weird or ? ? ? Anybody else?

Welcome to the Perseid meteor showers, the "biggies" usually every year. (The Leonids beat 'em one year IMHO).AND today much of the northern hemisphere will see 5 to 99% solar eclipse. How cool is that? Your best bet is to be in the UK or norhtern Spain, where totality is excellent before sundown. Me, I'll get a super duper tiny itty bitty slice of it, so little that it won't be noticeable. New...

... observed a solar eclipse.

Growing up, my mother complimented things that I had no control over...my hair.
But the things that I did have control over, like how I had it cut or combed...that I was criticized over.
Since somebody here suggested it, I've kept a gratitude journal for the past year I try to record one a day and give thanks for it.
Sometimes when someone says it out of the blue and out of the known character, it could go either way. But being one of the wierd's I know for those people and friends even a simple positive acknowledgement mean more, than the many used to manipulate . Sorting the good from the bad is tricky.
Thanks for being you.
It's not as bad today, but it still makes me feel awkward. At least I don't throw fits of rage over it anymore like before so I think I'm making progress.
